batam trip ended nearly a week ago and i noe its a teeny weeny late to blog abt it now, but its a lazi thurs afternoon and im bored, so o wells..heh.
the 3 dae 2 nite trip wasnt a trip to play, but to do a little charity work for the people there. if you mention do charity work in spore, the first of the many tings that would pop out of one's mind would be flag day or going to help the needy.. but the eleven of us were in batam to help to build houses for the people there..thou it was only two days of morning-to-late-afternoon help, it wasnt dat easy cuz we had to do lots of manual work under the changing weather..moving bricks alone took up the whole of our first dae.. everything had to be done by man; it feels like moving backwards to a time where there wasnt much technology..no cement mixer, no mini cranes..hmm, the construction workers in singapore are much luckier arent they?
and the houses built arent the best dat you'll see around; wif roofs dat might drip water on rainy days, no windows, cemented floors w/o tiles..there isnt even a proper ground outside the houses, just dusty sandy ground that would turn to mud water when it rains. but the people dont mind just as long as it is livable condition..
but the two days of getting muddy and dirty and sweaty were worth it! besides getting suntanned (or sunburnt), moving heavy bricks also got us a free lose weight and build up muscles programme..haha. wat's more, we went for a relaxing massage on the last dae to loosen all the crackling bones..but it was so ticklish i was laughing most of the time..
i miss all the o-so-fingerlicking-delicious food we got to eat and the soft comfy bed at the hotel..heh.
most importantly, i tink this trip serves as another reminder to me to be contented with what i have.. and im thankful, for everyone who made an impact in my life - my mum, yilin, dawn, my gals in poly, and
you, who always give me the most amt of patience and encouragement.. =) *big hugs to everyone*
